Español: “El eclipse total de sol de 2019”. El 2 de Julio de 2019, por casi dos horas, pudimos disfrutar de un evento único en el que el sol fue bloqueado por completo por la luna en lo que se conoce como un Eclipse Total de Sol. Para disfrutar del evento decidí trasladarme a la localidad de Merlo, en la provincia de San Luis, donde el filo de la Sierra de Comechingones le dio un marco sublime a la experiencia.

Desde antes de su inicio (alrededor de las 16:30 hs. hora local) hasta el momento en que el sol se ocultó por debajo del horizonte (alrededor de las 18:30 hs.) con mi cámara capturé una foto cada 5 minutos. Esta serie de fotos resumen el evento.

¿Como describiría la experiencia? Creo que las palabras que mejor describen la experiencia son: Mágico y perturbador...
Es mágico porque uno ve como la luz cambia y se transforma lentamente, el viento se detiene, las sombras se hacen más nítidas y el frío se intensifica. Es realmente una experiencia para todos los sentidos. Pero todo cambia en un instante con la llegada de la totalidad, porque donde debería estar el sol, de repente hay un círculo negro, mas negro que la noche, y uno como espectador no puede dejar de sentir que algo esta mal, tremendamente mal con el paisaje que se presenta delante de nuestros ojos. Ahora realmente entiendo toda la fascinación, la reverencia y el temor que nuestros ancestros sentían ante este tipo de eventos...

Información técnica: Planeado usando la app @Photopills y fotografiado utilizando una Canon EOS 6D + Canon EF 24-105mm f4 USM L IS + Trípode MeFOTO RoadTrip y una Canon EOS T3i + Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM + Trípode Manfrotto 190 Xprob con cabezal Manfrotto 327rc2. También usé un filtro Marumi ND-100.000. La edición de las fotos fue realizada usando Adobe Lightroom y Photoshop.

English: “The 2019 total solar eclipse”. On July 2th, for almost two hours, we were able to enjoy a unique astronomical event, in which the sun gets completelly blocked by the moon in what is known as a Total Solar Eclipse. To enjoy the event I decided to travel to the city of Merlo, in the San Luis Province, where the summit of the Comechingones range provided a magnificent setting for the experience.

Right from its begginig (around 16:30, local time) an until the time when the sun was completely below the horizon (around 18:30 hs.), I captured a photo every 5 minutes using my camera. This photo series is a summary of the event.

How would I describe the eclipse? I think the words that best describe the experience are: Magical and disturbing...
It is magical because you see how the light slowly changes both in color and intensity, suddenly the wind stops, the shadows become sharper and the cold intensifies. It is truly an experience for all the senses. But everything changes in an instant with the arrival of the totality, because high in the sky, where the sun should be, you suddenly see a black circle, darker than the night itself, and all of sudden the feeling that something is terribly wrong with the landscape overtakes you. Now I really understand all the fascination, reverence and fear that our ancestors felt aloud this kind of events...
